If you are on a closed loop cruise, a government-issued ID and birth certificate may suffice, but a passport is still recommended.

Essentials include casual clothing, formal wear (for some cruise dinners), swimsuits, sunscreen, a passport, medications, and comfortable shoes for excursions. Check your cruise line’s dress code and packing suggestions.

Seasickness is rare due to the ship’s stabilizers, but if you’re concerned, pack motion sickness remedies or choose a cabin in the middle of the ship for less movement.

Extras include alcoholic drinks, specialty dining, shore excursions, spa treatments, internet access, and gratuities. 

Most cruise lines have kids’ clubs, teen lounges, and age-appropriate activities like pools, waterslides, sports, and game rooms. Some ships also have babysitting services.
